Two Player Games on One Keyboard

Learn how to choose and set up local two-player browser games, check control layouts and play when friends share one keyboard.

Two players on one keyboard is one of the easiest ways to play together. There is no matchmaking, account setup, or second device required. The important part is choosing a game with controls that give both people enough space.

Start with the controls

Look at the Controls section before pressing Play. In a good local game, one player often uses WASD while the other uses arrow keys. Take one practice round first, because every title can use a different layout.

For familiar starting points, try Basketball Stars, 12 MiniBattles, or Table Pong. If a keyboard does not register a move, reduce the number of keys held at once or try a game with simpler controls.

Set up a fair match

Sit side by side so neither player needs to cross hands. A full-size keyboard can be more comfortable than a compact laptop keyboard. Set a short series, swap sides between rounds, and choose another game if either player dislikes the controls.
